Strong-minded and stubborn are good words to describe her. JinAe doesn’t back down easily, whether the situation be a fight or merely an argument. When she has an idea in her head, it can be hard to talk her out of it. She is serious about bending, and if it ever came to her having to fight someone, she isn't going to hold back much.
She is a bit mistrusting of others and often prefers to do things on her own, though that won’t mean she will remain in complete seclusion from people. JinAe thinks she can handle everything by herself, to the point where she might seem egotistical and make very reckless decisions. She is known to be quick-tempered with people who try to order her around or who don't think she can handle something as those are a few of her biggest annoyances.
Around strangers, she can be a bit short in response with them and occasionally will even seem hostile because she doesn't know whether or not to trust them. She prefers to avoid talking to/dealing with people unless she has to.
If she warms up to someone or becomes friends with them, she won't seem hostile towards them and might even lighten up to the point where she will joke around. She does have a more caring side to her, but it might take some persuading to get past her initial guardedness and to get along with her.
Her biggest fears would be the feeling of being trapped, and of being somewhere where there isn't earth to bend, like on a ship. Naturally, if she finds herself in one of these situations she becomes panicky and on edge. She also wouldn't be able to sit by if someone she cared about was hurt or in danger, even if she would end up being hurt herself.
Appearance:
Jin is a bit shorter in height and thin in figure. She has light blonde hair that falls a few inches past her shoulders, but she ties it back into a blue ribbon with a few braids, leaving some of the strands in the front down. She is fair-skinned and her eyes are a hazel green color.
As for outfits, she is normally seen wearing a traditional green robe, but doesn't always stick to traditional styles of clothing. Whatever is comfortable and allows her to earth bend easier is usually her preference. She has a pair of emerald-green shoes that are similar to flats, but she rarely ever wears them unless she has to, because earthbending is easier to perform without them.
History:
She was born in the Earth Kingdom in the city of Omashu. Her father DaeJung was an earthbender, while her mother EunMi did not possess any bending abilities. DaeJung began preparing for the war when Jin was about ten, and he left Omashu to join the earth kingdom forces, where they would send him to guard wherever he was needed. He is still alive, but has yet to return back to Omashu because he will be needed in combat with the war approaching.
JinAe had always been fascinated by earthbending, mainly from watching her father earthbend before he had left to go to war. She was thrilled when she discovered she could earthbend as well, though she couldn't seem to find an earthbender willing to teach her while her father was busy. She then became intent on figuring it out by herself.
She began practicing her abilities with every opportunity she had, but not always in a positive way unfortunately. She learned how to hurl small rocks, and threw them at just about everything for practice… including houses, market stands, and 'accidentally' at a person or a two. She didn't really care about the damage she caused, and so she ended up in a lot of trouble on multiple occasions over the years. It got to the point where the guards had forbidden her to earthbend inside Omashu because she had been reported for so many disturbances. She still practiced anyway, however… when the guards weren't watching.
This went on for a few years, until she couldn't stand being stuck in the crowded city any longer. She wanted nothing more than to strengthen her earthbending abilities and learn more techniques. It was then that she decided to leave Omashu and travel around to different places. The freedom of the thought was more exciting to her than anything, and so she set off one night and snuck out of the gates with her bag on her shoulder, off to go where she pleased.
This is how she ended up where she is now; traveling around to see new places as well as to focus on her earthbending.
As for her views on the war going on, she was aware of the possibilities of war between the nations at an earlier age, what with her father being involved in the military.
Personally, she doesn't believe that the avatar even exists anymore because no one has ever seen the avatar for years. She does not regard the avatar very highly as others might; she wants peace, but instead of believing that the avatar will come to bring it, she blames him for causing the war in the first place. If she were to find out that the avatar existed, she wouldn't put much hope into the thought.
