REKUSEKI, ADIRA
Who cares if you disagree
You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be?
Who died,
And made you king of anything?
You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be?
Who died,
And made you king of anything?

Personality:
Adira has been a handful for her parents from day one. She is strong-willed and incredibly block-headed for a young airbender, wanting to do things her own way. While she has been taught to respect her elders, she continually questions them and challenges them on every little thing she can. This isn't because she wants to be a problem child or finds it fun to fluster her elders, although she gets a small kick from that as well, it's because she is genuinely curious and has an incredible desire to learn. "Why?" is her favorite word and she can be frustrating to teach.
Like her father, she is friendly and enjoys conversation with others, although she can barely stomach small talk. For a young girl, she has some pretty adult and intelligent conversations. She likes to be intellectually stimulated and speaks her mind, not at all afraid of how people might react or what they might think. She doesn't think of the consequences of her words very often and can be a bit blunt, but she is always honest, sometimes a bit too honest. She doesn't like to be by herself and craves the companionship of others almost as much as she craves knowledge. Adira does enjoy being the center of attention at times and is kind of used to it, being the only child of Izo and Malina.
Since the moment she could understand human speech, her mother has taught her that nature is precious and should always be respected. Because of this constant reminder she has developed a healthy respect for the land around her and gets very upset when others do something to harm nature. She is fascinated by everything within nature and is always studying the earth, plants and animals to figure out how they work together. She still has the wild imagination of a child, though, so when she isn't trying to explain nature she is playing games in the forest, pretending to be anything she wants to be. She is usually able to get other children to join in her games, but she usually leads them.
Since she is so young, she is definitely naive. She believes that everyone is good at their core and that the world is fair, which is most certainly not the case. She may be intelligent, but that is not the same as knowing how to deal with cruelty and pain. She will always stand up for others when they are being bullied, and she has learned how to just let hurtful things go, but she has not experienced any hardships that the world has to offer and that might test her. She isn't fragile and she will always push through, but when the times comes that she is tested in these ways, it will be extremely difficult for her to handle.
Adira has an uncanny ability to tell when someone is troubled or upset. She may not understand why or know what is going on in their life, but invariably she finds a way to make them feel better if only for just a moment. She cares about others more than she cares about herself, even though she spends a lot of time trying to learn for her own benefit. Even if she is arguing with someone and she is determined to prove she is right, she will try to be respectful and kind.
She enjoys teaching others and has patience for those who want to learn things that she knows, but she has little patience for those who refuse to listen. Especially adults who are set in their ways. She is quick to anger, especially as she begins the journey through puberty, but she can't usually stay mad for long. It's difficult for her to hold a grudge and someone would really have to do something horrible for her to continue to be upset.
When it comes to bending, she likes to discover things on her own. If someone tells her she has to do it a certain way, she tend to rebel and find another way to do it just to show them. One of the only times she is quiet is when she is airbending. She won't speak a word while she is concentrating and if someone tries to get a rise out of her, they might as well be talking to a wall. Afterward she could probably give them a tongue-lashing, but while she is bending she won't say anything. She isn't very proficient at it currently, mostly because she hates to follow the instructions of her teachers, but she is learning.
She doesn't really know her limits and makes rash decisions without thinking of the consequences. Because she hasn't experienced a lot of what the world has to offer, she hasn't known fear and will stand up to anyone who she thinks is wrong. She believes everyone is equal and deserves a chance to prove themselves and will bull-headedly defend her beliefs. She is prideful and competitive, never backing down from a chance to prove herself.
Appearance:
Adira is still young and awkward, beginning the most awkward stage of an adolescent's life: puberty. She is currently 5'3" but is growing taller and will probably stop growing around 5'7" or 5'8". She is in good shape from training with her father, with firm muscle tone on her arms and legs and hardly any fat on her body. She has a slim, lithe frame with very slight curves that have just started to develop. She is kind of lanky at the moment, all arms and legs and pretty skinny for her height.
Her usual outfit consists of a yellow top under traditional air-nomad clothing. A light red sash crosses over her left shoulder, usually, although it could be worn over the right one, and joins the rest of the fabric at a belt at her waist. A darker red garment is worn over that and wraps around once to secure the garments underneath before the belt is placed on the top. For bottoms she prefers breeches that are loose and red or yellow in color, leaving her free to run and jump wherever she wanted. She hates skirts and dresses. On her feet she will either go barefoot or wear worn leather boots, depending on what she is going to be doing. The only jewelry she wears are the two armbands on her upper arms.
Her hair is long and brown like her mother's, although she has side bangs that sweep to her right side of her face, sometimes covering her right eye. It is cut in layers so that some shaggy pieces are shorter than others and not all of her hair finds its way into her usual braid. She doesn't like to fuss with it and doesn't like when her mother does either, preferring just to braid it and leave it alone. She likes that her hair hangs in front of her eye and would really not like to hear anymore about how it 'hides her pretty face'.
She has an oval-shaped smallish head with a pointed chin and a small pert nose. Her eyes are gray-green and framed by long dark lashes. She has olive colored skin and she keeps her face very clean so as to avoid acne. Luckily, she has good skin anyway and doesn't have to worry much about blemishes, but she likes to have a clean face anyway. Adira has a ready smile with straight white teeth. She is pretty for her age, although she doesn't really see it, but she is getting to be that age where appearance matters more and will start to worry more about how she looks.
History:
Adira was born to Malina and Izo Rekuseki, a waterbender and an airbender respectively. She was born in the Earth Kingdom in a medium-sized village near the nature that her mother loved so much. From a very young age, she demonstrated her strong-willed nature and although her parents loved her they were constantly frustrated by her wild nature. She would run into the woods, play in the mud, all things that little kids do because they don't know any better and because they can. She would make up games with witches, wizards, dragons and all other imaginative things, forming plots and daring adventures with the other kids that lived nearby. Her favorite spot to play was a slightly hidden spring in the woods behind her home where a willow tree blocked anyone from seeing what they were doing, making it almost a secret for her and her friends. The other children readily followed her because she always had good games to play and never left anyone out.
The only thing that would ever get her to calm down and sit down for a moment would be when her mother told stories. Her mother's stories invariable provided backgrounds for her games and she would use the characters in the stories while adding her own elements to it.
Whenever she wasn't playing or in school, she was bothering her father to teach her airbending or asking questions of the adults in her village. She was well known around the village for her wild imagination and her strong curiosity, and no one minded much. In fact, some of the adults even enjoyed when she came around to visit, bringing things from her parents but always staying for a story or a discussion. She was smart and some said she had an 'old soul', although there was nothing old about her. Adira flourished under her father's instruction, but she hated how indirect airbending could be. She liked to face things head on and had to learn how to be flexible and use technique rather than brute force.
When she was ten, she began to notice boys as being different from girls and even had her first crush. Unfortunately, he was much older than she was and wouldn't talk to her. Besides, she was immature and played games in the woods with magic and imagination that older boys couldn't be expected to deal with. She tried to tell him that she liked him and he completely shot her down, not even bothering to be nice about it. She was hurt, but she was young and bounced back easily. Since then she hasn't had many other romantic interests and sees herself as equal to boys, not even thinking about whether they might like her or not. In her eyes, she is just average and nothing special, so why would anyone like her?
