Renshu's personality is oddly quite differently that what one would expect. At the surface Renshu is quite friendly, charming and relaxed. He's calm, cool and collected and keeps calm in almost any situation. As a child Renshu was adventurous, curious and a bit naïve. He would love to go off whenever he was outside of the palace most of the time getting into a lot of trouble. Renshu would also love to ask a lot of questions about something he didn't understand making whoever he's talking to annoyed. He was also afraid of his father and also wanted to be like him, to Renshu his father was a great and powerful man who was alright right about everything and anything. Renshu also didn't like any other nation and used to believe that the other nations were imperfect and the Fire Nation was the best and perfect nation. Renshu loved being a prince everything that came with it was great to him. He was a bit of a spiteful young lad but he changed over time. As he got older his views changed greatly.
As Renshu got older his views on life and himself changed greatly. When he was younger Renshu never thought for himself he did what he was told and never questioned anything. He became more independent and gained his own views. Renshu then began to hate being a prince, he hated everything being handed to him, people treating him different. He just wanted to be treated like everyone else as an equal and nothing more or less. Renshu also didn't like how people hated him for just being a prince, people would call him names and mess with him whenever they got the chance. Renshu never said anything because he was a quiet child and didn't let things bother him much. The Fire nation itself was becoming sour to Renshu, he didn't like how the people and even his father were for the war instead of pushing for peace. He began to hate his home, hate his father and he wanted to leave.
All his issues seemed to disappear as Renshu met Yong, the two became great friends quickly and spent a lot of time together. Renshu became more strong willed, hard headed and cocky. He and Yong loved to prank people and make jokes they became a public nuisance. Life was great for Renshu when he spent time with Yong but at home he got into more fights with his father and his fire bending teachers. They would mostly fight about how Renshu's mind wasn't in the right place and wasn't really paying attention. It wasn't the fact he wasn't paying attention it was the fact that Renshu didn't care for what they said. Renshu loved to push himself both mentally and psychically but never showed it in front of his father or teachers. He loved to exercise with Yong and he loved to study about other cultures, he was most interested in the culture of the water benders. He also started to become quite close to his mother who had always been supportive of Renshu but the teen started spending a lot more time with his mother.
Renshu became friendly, calm and overall a fun guy in his teenage years but still had few issues. Renshu also has a strong sense of justice and hates to see anyone harm another or just be plain evil. He's hard headed and when he gets angry he explodes and it is hard to calm him down and reason with him. Due to his past Renshu can occasionally get angry to the point of where it affects his fire bending and one would be wise to stay away from him and just let him cool off. Renshu keeps to himself mostly when it comes to if he has any issues and if someone wants to know what's wrong with him it would be hard to get it out of him. He is overly cocky and loves to provoke and joke with people especially if he is fighting someone. He's an easily approachable person and will help almost anyone who needs it as long as it's for good reasons.
After his friend had died for reasons Renshu blames himself for and his girl friend had broken up with him Renshu went through a depressing phase. He became extremely violent and he was angry all the time. During sparring sessions Renshu would go overboard and his mother would have to calm him down. Renshu got into fights everyday and a lot of fights at that, his anger was getting out of control. Renshu wouldn't talk to anyone, wouldn't eat, failing in his studies, he wouldn't even talk to his mother who he had a great connection with. Renshu eventually broke out of this funk when he had almost burnt his mother who had come to talk to him. The two had a long talk about what was wrong with him and what Renshu wanted to do with himself. It was after this talk with Renshu that broke his anger and put him back to the way he was beforehand and it was also after this talk that he wanted to leave home and see the world. Though Renshu might appear to be just and kind he can sometimes be a bit cold and brutal and can tread the line of good and bad. He can lose his temper and go overboard and still blames himself for his best friend's death and always needs someone to calm him down when he goes overboard.
Appearance:
Renshu has built body, black hair and yellow eyes. From all his years of training Renshu has a built body and is psychically stronger than most his age. Most people say he resembles his mother in his dark hair which comes down to his neck. Renshu doesn't really maintain his hair a certain way but most of the time it hangs down on his face. He might some times sway it to the right but he normally doesn't do anything with his hair. He doesn't like to let his hair get to crazy and normally cuts it if it starts to get to long.
He has bright yellow eyes which usually seem to have a fire in them. On his body one might find a few scars he got from his journeys and some of the fights he had been in. His skin is tan but if he stays inside for to long it can look quite pale. When it comes to clothing Renshu wears whatever is appropriate to the weather. He won't wear a winter coat during the summer and won't walk around shirtless during the winter. Renshu has been describe as handsome and dreamy but he doesn't exactly care for what he looks like. He also wears a yellow scarf around his arm which used to belong to his friend Yong who passed away. He also keeps a gold necklace around with him that has a picture of Mien-Lien on the inside of the locket at the end of it. He keeps the necklace around because he still cares deeply for her and still hurts from their break up.
Renshu's face may come off as a bit depressing but he is a fun guy. You sometimes like to have reed in his mouth as it tends to calm him down and helps him focus. He also has a red bandanna tied around his right leg over his pants to signify the Fire Nation. Thought the bandanna doesn't have the Fire Nation insignia on he still likes to think it symbols where he comes from and the fact it doesn't have a insignia on it to hid it from people so he doesn't get hazed. His hair used to be quite shorter but he grew it out to help disguise himself. He even dyed a part of his hair red so it could even help more. Renshu likes to also wear a yellow cloth around his forehead but he takes that off most of the time and wears it occasionally.
History:
From the moment his was born into the royal family as the first son of Fire Lord Komei much was expected as one day he would take his father's place as Fire Lord. Renshu was born into a family of five, his father, Fire Lord Komei who was always hard and demanding on Renshi. His mother Yukina who was always supportive and caring of her children especially Renshu who she knew was going to have a hard life being the first son of Komei. His two older sisters and his younger brother were not so kind to their younger brother mainly due to the fact that after he was born their mother and father spent most of their time focusing on him. Renshu didn’t know much about his other family besides his uncle who he didn't see much due to the fact that his Father never liked his brother. Renshu probably had other family but he never really saw them around much.
Growing up Renshu was expected much of and was pushed quite hard, harder than his other siblings. He was being thought fire bending at a young age and was also trained in the way of the sword, which he became extremely skilled with. He was also in constant competition with his other siblings. Renshu spent his time either training or studying with his many teachers that all pushed him harshly, all of them under his father's orders. The only time he got a break from it was when he spent time with his mother or he was eating. During his trainings his was pushed to be perfect in his technique and power and being punished if he wasn't doing something correctly. Renshu would confront his father about his mistreatment by the teachers but he never cared saying that he had more important matters to attend to. Renshu began to hate his father and some of his other siblings only caring for themselves and doing anything to achieve their goals. There was one time when Renshu was about 6 when he had an flare of anger he blasted one of his teachers out a window of the palace almost killing the man. Renshu wasn't penalized due to the fact of his father blaming the teacher for being incompetent.
Once his mother heard about this she had enough of just standing by being quiet like she used to do. Watching her son being pushed around like a rag doll made her sick and her husband's disregard for the child made it worse. She stopped Renshu's home schooling and enrolled him in a school but that didn't make things better. Once his father learned of this switch he made sure that the teachers wouldn't let anything from Renshu slide and make sure that he was getting the best grades. Renshu himself hated school, everyone hated him for being a prince and Renshu was picked on for it. Now not only being abused by his older siblings now he had to deal with kids at school. Renshu was a quiet kid and kept most things to himself so he never told his mother what was going on. School was bad for him until he met a boy named Yong who was the son of a worker at the palace, others would say servant but Renshu never liked that term so he says worker. Renshu thought out of anyone Yong would hate him the most but surprisingly Yong was quite fond of Renshu, the two quickly became the best of friends. Renshu never understood why Yong would talk to him but then again he wouldn’t argue with him about it.
The two of them spent a lot of time together, Renshu would skip lessons and sparring sessions to go spend time with Yong. It was through spending time with Yong did he realize what was going on around the world. Sure there was school but they never talked about how close all the nation were to war. It was then that he learned how little his father was doing to try and prevent that. Yong explained that Renshu's father actually wanted war, Komei wanted the Fire Nation to rule over all the other nations and was planning to create a huge army so when a war happened the Fire Nation would be prepared. When Renshu asked how Yong had known this the boy explained that his older brother was a part of the army and would send secret letters back to their family though Messenger Hawk. Their friendship grew intensely when Yong had saved Renshu from a rampaging Komodo Rhino that was charging at the young prince. The two of them were walking through a town and a Komodo Rhino had broken loose and charged at Renshu. Instead of fire bending at it Renshu froze he was so frightened. This was when Yong had shown off a secret of his, Yong was an earthbender. At first Renshu was frightened of Yong scared that now Yong would kill him or something because he had found out that he was an earthbender but instead Yong just made Renshu promise he wouldn't say anything. Yong's family consisted of his father who was a fire bender and his mother who was an earthbender and his older brother who was a fire bender. Despite what was going on around the world his parents found love and decided to live with each other anyway. Renshu couldn't help but wonder what could happen to them if anyone found out. Yong was a goof ball of a kid, always had a big smile on his face and loved to joke around. He was bit older than Renshu and loved to joke around with him about it calling him kid or baby which sometimes annoyed Renshu. To Renshu Yong was a older brother figure someone he could look up to and come to for advice and such. The two got along quite nicely never getting into fights with each other, well fights that could end their friendship.
As Renshu got older and time passed he became a great fire bender even being able to beat his older siblings during sparring matches when they would gang up on him. He also became quit handy with the blade. Renshu also became quite the rebellious one, not really caring for whenever his father would want him to stay and attending meetings with him or even show up for one of his weekly showings of his skills. Most of the time Renshu spent time with Yong or practicing on his own he never truly liked someone else teaching him how to do things. He did however spare with Yong which gave him great experience, most of the time Renshu only fought other fire benders fighting a different bending style made him a bit more flexible. Yong enjoyed to play jokes on Renshu with his earth bending like making the ground spike up as the prince walked making him trip up and fall on the ground. Yong even became like an older brother to Renshu when it came to relationship situations. The earthbender helped set his friend up with a lovely girl named Mei-Lien when they were around the age of 15. Mei-Lien was a raven haired girl with bright blue eyes that Renshu had a crush on for a long time and Yong figured he would help his friend out. At home Renshu still kept Yong and his personal life a secret from his family and mainly his father, he would tell his mother things from time to time but never his father.
A tragic event occurred in Renshu's life when he, Yong and Mei-Lien where wondering through a forest after Renshu had snuck out of the palace. It was his idea to go out into the forest so they wouldn't be bothered by anyone. As they were heading through the forest they were stopped by a band of mercenaries who were out looking for Renshu. There were people out there who wanted to take over the throne and they knew they would have to kill both Komei and Renshu to secure their position. At first Yong and Renshu laughed, they figured they could take on a few thugs that probably couldn't fight. They were in over their heads one was a dual wielding swordsmen who was also a fire bender, the other a earth bender and the last an air bender which caught the two boys off guard. During the fight Renshu mainly focused on making sure Mei-Lien was safe rather than giving Yong the best help. The fight was long and hard and Renshu and Mei-Lien survived but at a great cost. The ambusher's had ran off because Yong and broken the leg of the fire bender and the arm of the air bender and then made a land slide.
Yong at first seemed find and even said "We gave those guys hell didn't we Ren?" Renshu smiled when Yong said that it was his usual attitude. When Yong then began to walk over to Renshu and Mei-Lien he fell on the ground. Yong had suffered from a stab wound from the fire bender with the dual swords in his chest. Renshu quickly ran over to his friend and carefully propped him up in his arms. He pleaded for Yong to say something as tears flowed down his face as he looked down on Yong's lifeless face. "Hey Ren don't go crying a man shouldn't cry," Yong had began to say as he was interupted by himself coughing up a bit of blood. "I don't want you to ever change you hear me I don't want you to ever change," He said as he punched Renshu in the chest. "I want you to live for the both of us now Renshu and I got one final request I want you to go travel to world and see how the other nations are handling themselves. Then I want you to become firelord so you can avoid a war. Most importantly I want you to always be true to yourself and your heart, never change Ren never," after Yong said that he went limp, he was dead. Renshu at first spent a couple of minutes calling out Yong's name figuring that the boy was just messing with him. Yong was dead, Renshu's best friend, the only person that Renshu could consider someone he loved was now dead because he wanted to go into the forest and because he wanted to protect his girlfriend. The two didn't come out on scathed however Renshu was bleeding profusely from his forehead, his right cheek and his left leg. Mei-Lien wasn't as banged up but she had few scraps and cuts on her body. Renshu held his dead friend's lifeless body in his arms screaming at the top of his lungs, he couldn't believe Yong was dead. The men that attacked them weren't bending masters but it was three against two. Renshu then brought Yong's body back to his family who were outraged at Renshu, he had became like another son to them and felt that Yong would be safe around Renshu but their son was dead. When Mei-Lien had returned home her family was outraged and she was forbidden to ever see Renshu again. They even told Firelord Komei what had happened and eve where Renshu had been going and doing with Yong.
After that event Renshu was pulled out of school and forbidden to go out of a certain radius of the palace. Now Renshu was back to doing what he was doing before he started to go to school and met Yong. He would sometimes still cry over the death of his friend, Mien-Lien also broke up with him because of her parents forcing her to do so. This made his life increasing depressing and his father had added up on his training and studies and made sure Renshu attended every meeting. Renshu slowly began to start becoming a sad husk of someone he's not just doing what he was told and nothing really more. This began to worry his mother who would try her best to help Renshu but he never accepted her help. Renshu's father was no help all he did was become disappointed and angry with his son saying that he was a disgrace to the royal family name and has much to learn to ever be ready to take the throne. Renshu and the Firelord began to argue more and more making the palace a hostile area.
As a year went by and Renshu was 16 he tried to talk to Mei-Lien again to see if she would try to make things work again. He tried multiple times but she never responded to any letters he sent and would ignore him if he came to her home secretly. She had heard about Renshu's outbursts and was frankly afraid that he would hurt her and being around him was dangerous at the time. This pushed Renshu over the edge he would have violent outbursts fire bending in his room and sometimes on the roof of the palace. Multiple times Renshu had set fire to his room having to get it remodeled multiple times. Firelord Komei eventually got tired of Renshu's outburst and scolded his son for being too emotional and said that the death of his friend and the break up were all signs of Renshu being weak. Renshu had enough of his father he had enough of the entire fire nation. He then remembered his friend's last words, after all this time Renshu had forgotten what Yong wanted him to do and he was going to do it. Renshu then packed his things and snuck out the palace and headed out to travel the world. He would come back however when he felt he was ready to take the throne from his father. Renshu has now been on his own for about a year now and has been going as Ren Zhixin.Face Claim:
