REKUSEKI, IZŌI came to win, to survive, to prosper, to rise
Name: Rekuseki Izō

Gender: Male
Alignment: Lawful Good
Nationality: Air Nomads

Height: 6'1
Weight: 164lbs

Items:
With the aid of an old friend who hosts the abilities of an Earth Bender, Izō was able to construct a ring for his lover. Forged perfectly, with an assortment of engravings, this small, silver emblem of life-lasting love- and as well in the hereafter demonstrates the commitment he made to the woman whom he swore to protect. A jade emerald being the focal piece of this simplistic, though elegant design, Izō just awaits the right moment to give it to her. He finally proposed to her months into their relationship-- the end product being a yes and a child.

Personality:
While young, the Monk world imposes quite the frame of mind upon the individual it commands into battle and death. Fortunately, the negative stereotype doesn’t stand well within the mind of the untroubled Izō. A unique individual with a number of traits tailored to his own character comprises a personality quite inimitable to himself.
Gregarious: Izō, for being as disciplined as a Monk, is quite the sociable butterfly. Never straying away from conversation that holds some importance or interest to him, the young warrior tends to speak a little too much. Expressive in both thoughts and words, Izō has a small problem withholding his words back, and while they could come off as invasive to some, he truly believes he’s only doing what anyone should do; and that it to be honest. Neglecting any form of reticence for the most part, this trait alone forces the young man into situations that possibly could prove detrimental for him, but also promising.
Audacious: While a firm loyalist when it comes to his home and those he cherishes, the young man enjoys wandering just as much as his mind does. Having a slight and mild form of claustrophobia, he can’t be confined to the inner of his own home, having explored every inch of its province. The world is a huge place, and deserves to be reconnoitered and ventured; Izō feels he could do that without a doubt.
Competitive: Such a variable and dominating component to his personality cannot be flouted. Izō has a near infinite famine for competition. Always finding ways to push his bodily and mental limitations to strengthen himself, the Monk strays little from any challenge. The problematic circumstance that comes with this is that he could possibly bite off more than he can chew. Resilience of the mind and a near indomitable strength of will stimulate a pride that wouldn’t allow him to turn down any difficult trial.
Tenacious: As much of an impetus as it a burden, Izō is quite the determined individual. When odds seemingly favor an opposition of any stature, the Airbender requires little to nothing to push himself to try and even the playing fields, if not dead right succeed. From sparring, to missions, training and even vital, life threatening bouts of skill and strength, the Monk’s strong will refuses to fail him. A young man without any mental limitations in most areas, it’s quite hard to force him to falter. This also plays on his inability to rationalize well, and one with strong opinions, it’s even harder to change his mind.
Competent: Beneath an outgoing, thick-headed persona, the core of his personality resolves around his keen mastery of both instinct and combat streamlining. His advancement in the Monk world, coupled with his own personal endeavors stem from his ability to focus at optimal efficiency when placed into a situation that requires such a demeanor. In battles, his mind runs a series of scenarios through his head, eliminating the most ineffective, and highlighting the more plausible routes to take. Beyond his battle aptitude, Izō also acts with a more primal and instinctive nature when forced into a corner, narrowing down to the singular core principle that all creatures equally indorse: the need to survive. Doing any and everything to sustain his own existence, Izō however won’t stray from helping others.
Trustworthy: “Those that break the rules and regulations are scum. But those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum!” No truer words have been spoken that impartially represent the moral standard of Rekuseki Izō. While a firm advocate in accomplishing the duties entitled to him as a Monk, the young man couldn’t fathom risking the safety and security of his comrades. Placing himself in a position to protect those he cherishes before ever sacrificing the life of his fellow friends and allies, Izō would take the impertinence from his village before ever taking the title as “Hero” at the expense of others.
Appearance:
If ocean blue eyes didn’t solidify the pure charm which was his appearance, the longevity of his gleaming blonde should. Coarse, soft as silk, and coming in abundance, the young Airbender’s appearance, despite his occupation, fits that of a Bishōen model above all others. Genetics playing in his favor as a testament to his parent’s physical prosperity, Izō demonstrates physical features not befitting a warrior carved for combat. Lightly tanned skin, and reaching a height of an estimated 185cm (6’1) and weighing approximately 74kg (164lbs), the world’s resident falls back little on his appearance and leans more towards his personality. Markings of the most exotic nature reside on cheeks, distending out and extending further towards the center of his head’s epicenter.
Though young, the Air temple native neglects his frame nominally. Artificially implicated through a series of rigorous training endeavors coupled with the mold of what a conditioned monk should appeal to, the youthful warrior’s frame is nothing more than a chiseled beauty. Being tall, and relatively light (in terms of weight), his physique is lanky to some degree. A toned core, protruding to a modestly muscular upper torso (pectorals, shoulders, etc), the condition which is his frame highlights the degree of discipline and bodily punishment he endured willingly. His legs boast similar results, being one of the faster individuals in his home; it goes without saying his leg muscles are rather accomplished in their own right. While not boasting a bald scalp, the rather symbolic arrow heads are present along his arms, and legs, as well as his back-- his head being the only portion of his body lacking such an emblem.
In terms of appearance, a common style, Izō enjoys displaying has become also symphonic with his style of living. Sleeved shirts, notably of a looser material and fashioning summer colors concealed beneath a black, decorated kosode. Loose hakuma matching the design of his second upper layer and sandaled feet compile the majority of his day-to-day apparel. Lastly, another notable trademark to his appearance comes in the form of a rather decorative headband which gawkily matches his pants and kosode to the tee. Covering the entirety of his apparel, a red shihakushō with a crimson lining.
History:
Born on a cold, though brilliant winter day, Izō’s home became the province of the Southern Air temple. Settled high into the skies of the Patola Mountain Range. From birth, though ocean hues obscured behind the mask of infancy, his future—preordained by faith itself would blossom into effect in the incoming years.
Growing up within the monk-oriented sanctuary, his life was scheduled to perfection, though it became almost redundant. Naturally recalcitrant, the Monks found themselves attempting to tame the boy with the ut-most effort and effectiveness. Needless to say, the least had become more of an imposition than anything else. Not punished to the extent of other children around the world, his conditions of living were stricken beyond belief; at least in his youthful eyes. Meditations and entreaty became almost second nature to him, and while the potential of his strength with Air Bender surfaced fairly early, he wasn’t allowed to expand on them until his character was corrected.
Soon enough, his temperament was temporarily reformed to meet the standards of his elders and Izō, though tentatively, was allowed tutelage in the martial arts as well as in the instruction of Air Bending. His talents initially were mediocre, well behind the general populace of his age. The difference came in want to doing better. His competitive nature kicking in, forcing him to train both in public as well in secret; the monks however saw an inconsistency. Being detached from the outside world, they were shocked to see such a behavior that differed so greatly from the norm.
His instructor and surrogate father, Shō-long—an elder Monk and free-spirit much like the child he had taken a liking to be behind this. Having used his vast knowledge of the world and his personality which took traits of all kinds, he molded Izō into a young man with a mind of his own. Years would pass and still under his guidance, the blonde advanced until his head was shaven in respect to his kin; arrows marking his body save for his scalp to indicate the masteries he had attained.
One day however, playing along the rim of the temple itself, practicing his bending in secrecy, Izō’s own strength and ignorance would become the demise of his life as he knew it. A simple push of wind became a stronger force then he could personally manage and the end result was crippling—he was flung off the side. His cries running to oblivious ears, Izō found himself descending into nothingness as he looked up, teary eyed watching the temple becoming nothing more than a distance figure in the sky and soon everything faded to black.
A subtle downpour fell form the heavens as it cried silently. A figure, tattered and bruised soon emerged along a coastal plain, awakened by the rain itself. Head throbbing and body exhausted without rest, Izō found himself in a new region of the world, remembering little of what happened, and understanding nothing. His head once shaved now displayed long strands of dirty blonde, riddled with twigs and other debris. How long had he been unconscious? Lifting himself, the Air Bender would make haste to the nearest location, though a weak body did little and he soon fell beneath the temptations of mother nature’s chilling breeze.
Waking once more to warmth and cheerful faces, Izō found himself surrounded by women and men alike. Their clothes thick and warm, he found himself matching their attire. Given a brief explanation of what happened it seemed he had fell unconscious just outside the Southern Water Tribe, where they found him and with their medical prowess nursed him back to good health. He couldn’t explain the situation as he drew blanks at all mentions. His life became nothing more than a blank page in a book with no title.
Though he wasn’t unappreciative and after thanking them, and spending a few months in the tribe itself, he cleaned himself up, gathered his things and continued on into the world. He enjoyed his time there, but didn’t belong—the woman of his dreams however—being one of the few who stood by his side the entire time allowed him to accompany her on her travels. He hoped he could find clues to free him on this sensation of darkness.
Along his journey with the Water tribe beauty, feelings began to spiral--- sensations foreign to him. Time and memorial spoke to two-crossed lovers and upon one spring afternoon, Izō found himself in a curious position. After acquiring a ring from one of his friends within the Earth Kingdom, the Airbender proposed to Malina—her acceptance startled but motivated him. Soon afterwards however he was informed that she was with a child—his child. Scared, discouraged, confused and secretly thrilled, it took a kind and tolerant soul of Malina to truly influence him into the title of father; though it was his decision nonetheless.
Summer shepherded its birth, his child conceived on a warm day; it was a baby girl. Settling into the Earth Kingdom, taking temporary residence in one of its many regions and homes, Izō turned away from training to be the father he never had, and one that Adira deserved. She was by no means a quiet child, and her consistent rebellion presented challenges to the young married couple. However they pushed through it and when his daughter showed signs of Air bending, he was thrilled. He, however wouldn’t allow such to take away from the bond the girl and her mother shared. That in his eyes was more powerful than the manipulation of nature; they were attached by nature itself.
